I will help as I can..but am not exactly local! Probably don't want me to bring the potato salad, LOL!
In looking at Kas's map, Ohio looks as go a place as any to try this. My husband's now saying there may be a major civil war event that weekend in Tennesee, so of course he'll go there. I gotta check the date.
We probably should have some kind of poll, or sign up list to see how many are interested. that will give us an isea on what to do for food, lodging. We could be ordering pizza from a tent in your back yard, daveedka!

My wife owns (or at least will own before July) a little Ceasars. Pizza will be easy to get.

For those who want to camp (aside from my Backyard) there are two major state parks within 15 miles of the Zoo and another 3 or 4 within 35 miles. Hotels are easy to find and reasonably priced.

Nursie, Tell your Husband to come to Columbus, we can talk black powder as much as he wants, and I can direct him to one of the best black powder stores in the midwest (2 hours north of columbus) If he really insists, I'll bring my Tomahawks and we can throw a few rounds just for entertainment. The South will rise again some other time, and he can go then :D

This is a must. If I'm going to cook a hog, I need to know what size Piggy to dispatch. If there aren't enough folks, I am adept at pretty much anything done over charcoal. And for you southern Folks who truly understand barbecue, we do serve hush puppies when I put on a pig pickin'

He won't give it up..and I wouldn't ask him to...lol. I went out to the Stones River website to see if I could figure out what weekend, in case we could change things at this stage of the game. the dates not posted yet. I'll bet someone knows...jsut have to work on it.

I agree you should start a new thread... I just happened to see the one about posting info. for the picnic... I haven't checked this thread in a while for an update!! I'm about an hour from Toledo, OH and my brother lives in Columbus (although he might not by next summer), but this might be a possibility for me!! And we'll have the new baby, so maybe I can convince my husband that the trip is for our son :D

I agree--start a new thread, with the date and location, with a poll. I'll put in my vote here--I would love to attend, and will make every effort--but it's looking more and more likely that I will be moving early next year, so any travel plans have to be made with that in the mix. And since I don't know where or when (the joy of being a military bride), I'll have to make things up as I go along. :) But--I think it's an awesome idea and I really hope I can make it. :)

OH I can't wait! IF you need any Help Dave or John just give me and mooman a PM or Buzz. I LOVE the ZOO! If we get enough people researved we could probably get some good hotel discounts around Tuttle Mall. My company uses a hotel there frequently and they give us good prices. :)

I love Little Caesars Pizza. Unfortunately, all the close ones to me pulled out of Dayton :mad2:

Columbus is a go for me and palmbreeze since we live in Dayton. Let us know if we can do anything to help out!!!
