so... got any tips?

Only thing I have found out so far that if you are going to use flash, you gotta take the pic at some angle that isn't 90* or you get a bunch of glare.

and poorly lit tanks are hard to take pics of haha

at night with all lights off except the tank light

If you have an SLR, make sure that you set the f/stop to about 2.0 or larger. That way you can take shots at ISO 1600 and f/1.8 (maybe) and moving shots should come out nice and clear.

I've found its easiest to take photos of fish in the aquarium if you have a camera that lets you adjust the focus, zoom, and shutter speed manually.

SLR= *single lens reflex, that's all I know, I had a short stint in photography. If you've got a digital camera the best settings I've found are 'Behind Glass' or an action/shake reduction one.

I'm still having problems with it but the best thing is to take millions of pics, as MG suggested then select the best, or edit it on the computer.

I've found a tripod to be very helpful.

i have an old Konica Minolta Dimage X20 that i bought in 2003. It's 2MP and nothing fancy. I find I get the best pictures at night or in the dark with just the tank lights on. It's enough to get good shots without flash, but I have to hold the camera very still if not on a flat stable surface. As mentioned, take a lot of shots. I had literally had to take 80 pictures just to muster up 7 or 8 really good looking shots. Then again my digi cam is pretty old, now they have anti-shake technology and much faster shutter speeds.
