This fall I am planning on a tropical fish pond. My plan is to transfer and Iridenscent shark, some bala sharks and other various tropicals to an outdoor pond. It will be around 2000 gallons. In this area, we have quite a few bull frogs. Is this going to wreck havoc on my tropicals? They won't be monster size fish initially, I will suspect most will be 6" plus. I haven't had tropicals in the same area as bull frogs. Any experience with this?

well, I don't really see a major problem. but I wouldn't be upset if the frog did eat a few of the smaller/slower fish. they will typically eat anything that can fit in their mouth... if they can catch it.
I have 2 bull frogs that call my pond home. there are several hundred mosquito fish in the pond, and I think the frogs eat them from time to time, but I've never actually seen them eat one.
I'd be more concerned about what you are going to do come winter. is this just a growout thing? even living in s florida, I'm sure the water temp would drop below tropicals would like. maybe joe can chime in since he's from there.

I didn't invite the bulfrogs to my pond - they just showed up - even overwintered on the bottom. One stayed around a few years - got to be good eatin' size. They never bothered my koi/goldfish, and I never noticed a signficant loss among the mollies, platies and swordtails I put out to breed for the summer - I always got more back than I put out. The frogs would lay around on the lily pads all day, them jump out at dusk, presumably to hunt bugs (and look for mates). I certainly wouldn't worry about the size fish you're talking about; I'd be more worried about herons.

I am down in Fort Lauderdale, so I don't think it will be a problem. I am going to add some heating. I also was more concerned about the heat. Was wondering if it would help to go 3-4' deep. That should hold the temperature, I would think.
