Well done, what kind of loser hacks a forum site anyway? I mean, at least if it was a big corporation he/she could hide behind the flimsy mantra of fighting "corporate imperialism" of some such crap, but what are you bragging about when you shut down a site where people come to share information?

"Look at me! I've prevented the benevolent exchange of information!"

"I've trodden on the little guy!"

"I've stopped people from showing the best of humanity!"

Pasty loser!

That really was a waste of time for anyone to hack a fish forum.

At least he/she could have used a fish related alias.......I mean come on! Maybe vBulletin employees people to hack there old software that has holes in it, that would be a good way to get people to upgrade to the latest version.

Just curious Dale, did he/she use the calendar exploit to gain entrance to the server?

Do we have any leads as who this person is? So how exactly did he/they manage to take down our site. Did they just flood it with posts or something? Why on earth would any one want to in the first place?
I suppose that I'm just easy to confuse.

Max: there was an "XSS injection exploit" or something with the old VBulletin. I'm assuming that's what they used. It's simply what they described.... a script kiddie that found an exploit and went around using it. I run Firefox with a popup blocker so I'm not positive about this, but I think they even put "ad display" code on there to try to make money off of it. That is what you call "the lowest of the low". Script kiddie dorks that need a nice punch in the throat.

As for leads, the site it linked back to was an Arabic site... and they had the text going from right to left.... so I'd say that narrows the field down just a bit.

Yeah. The page ole "Hack Root" left us led both to an Arabic community website and a UK website. Which leaves the impression of an Arabic person in Britian. But who knows.

Also, on the bottom image Script Kiddie left here there was a duplicate copy on one of his hosting websites(The idiot didn't even secure his own site to prevent folder viewing) an identical image with the email address of hotup@hotmail.com could be found.

I mailed a copy of the above image to that email. And notified the website administrators of what had been done.
