Whats your favorite Red plant?

I lack sufficient exprience to really say much, but my red temple is by far my favorite plant, all colors and types considered. nothing grows as vivid or as well as the temple does for me. I also like the brighter reds as a rule, so although there are many beautiful reds available many of them just aren't red enough for my tastes.

I'm with Dave on this one, lovin' the red temple. It also seems to be a pretty good CO2 indicator. When I've got good high levels of CO2, it's bright, vibrant, and colourful, a truly stunning plant. When the CO2 levels start to drop off the colour fades, still a very nice looking plant but it just looks duller than before.

I'm trying to get some Rotala macrandra growing and it was doing well up until last week. I think that it got shaded and ended up looking, well, crappy.

I don't have the high lighting needed for many red types, but my crypt wedtii provides a nice contrast. I also have a reddish colored Hygrophila species that is doing nicely.......which reminds me, I have to go look up which species it is.

Will do. Thanks. I also got a hold of some red tiger lotus. They are just bulbs though, so how long until I see something start to develop?

Reiver, crank your CO2 and raise NO3 to 15ppm, I found that red temple took a little while to settle in but these definitely helped.

On the same note John, If you aren't already supplementing extra Fe you will probably need to. According To the guys at Byerly's our water is defecient. My Fe test kit is backordered, but I know my Red temple, melon sword and red and bronze crypts didn't look good at all untill I upped the Fe a bit. The more time I work with our city water, the more I dream of an old fashioned hard water well ;)
