filter help, please

I just got an AquaClear 70 for my 55 gallon tank. I set it up and started it, but there is still air in the intake tube. It appears to be running normally except for the air in the back corner of the intake "U" I don't think the air is suppose to be there but I can't get it out. Suggestions please, this is my first experience with the AquaClear filters.
Thanks

You should be able to adjust the filter to a higher flow and pull the bubble out. If this doesn't work, make sure the u-tube is seated firmly, and that the water level isn't too low--both things can slow the flow and prevent the filter from pulling out bubbles.

Thanks for the reply

I think it is on the highest flow, and It seems to be fitting properly. The water level is not low either. It is okay to have the air bubble or will it hurt the filter? Thanks

Nope, it doesn't hurt the filter, just slows it down a little. Usually, the bubbles get pulled throughin the course of a day or so--making lots of noise, but no problems.

Thanks--hopefully it will work itself out, but the flow still seems to be good.

Just make sure that your uplift tube is seated snugly in the impellor housing.

I only have experience with the Aquaclear Mini, but when I have this problem I just pull out the basket that holds the filter media while the filter is running. Usually the change in water flow is enough to flush out the air bubble.

Put airline tubing half way up the * U * Tube and put in water then siphon it until the box is full then put the U back in after taking out the Airline tubing !! Its the same way you can prime a Trickle / Wetdry filter !!!
