i am having problems with my salt, it will not mix all the way.... For the last year that i have had my tank i mix it as i need it and make sure the temp is good and pour in..... But here the last few times i do my water change and the salt will mot mix all the way. Any ideas?

I assume you're mixing it in a bucket or something, then pouring it in? Are you using a powerhead as well? When I mix "new" saltwater, I always stick a small powerhead in the bucket and let it churn for an hour or so.

i have a maxijet 400 in my tank ... do i need to take it out and use it to mix the water?

Unlles you wan't to mix your salt manually for a half hour then yes, you do. I don't have any power heads in my tanks so i have to manually mix my salt.

cool, I will do that and let it churn the water for a while! Thanks alot !

I just use an airpump and a couple of larger airstones..... then I don't have to move things around from my tank and the airflow is coming from the bottom.
YOu should keep an eye on your ph while doing this tho....

great thank for the info.... I have some pondering to do now hehehe.

Personally, I suggest you pick up a small powerhead just for mixing purposes. I use a very small Rio (less than $10) and when I'm done with it, I simply clean it and put it away for the next batch. This way, you're not interrupting your tank's water flow and it's always nice to have some backup just in case something happens to the powerhead used in the tank.

I have a maxijet1200 with a tube attached to the output nozzle... its only used to mix salt (and a 150watt heater). Oh yeah, if I want to get snazzy I can put the hose in the sump of my tank and turn the power head on and transfer water that way :).
