My back hurts today. I've been changing water religiously in my QT tanks with regular gravel vacs and buckets because I don't dare contaminate my python. I only use the python to refill. If I were to use the python to vac, then vac some bleach mix through it followed with a dechlorinator and running water after that, would that be sufficient to decontaminate it ? Bleach should kill on contact.

I have 3 QT tanks; 1 hospital, 2 tanks full of rescued fish. The 75g seems trouble free. 20g & 10g have disease/parasite problems.

Thanks.

I use my python with a bucket. I have a seperate gravel vac that has a lot more suction that flows right into the bucket. the sink faucet doesn't have the same powerful suction as my hand held one. i use the python to refill from the sink and use prime as the water is flowing into the tank.this is my 100 GALLON tank. :dive2:

i have had the tank for about 15 years and have moved 2 times and have had to restart the tank. i have aquascaped it so many times, it was a saltwater tank for the first year, but living up in the mountains with deep winter snow and power outages that lasted for days, i decided it would be too expensive to keep buying marine fish to replace the ones i would lose in the winter.

here is the before and after picture of my 100 Gallon Aquarium. the before is in the above post and the after is here.

we are metered for water here in the high desert but the meter measures not how much water you use, but how much water goes down the drains, thats the first time i ever heard of that, so my tank water goes outside to the plants via a 5 gallon bucket :dive2:

I have 4 tanks and don't want to cross contaminate (I had a major snail issue last year, now i know how easy exotic species spread around the world). After I vac my gravel I run HOT water thru my python for a minute or so, longer if I have anything to worry about. Come to think of it, i've never had any sick fish either.
