This may have been a better "test" during spring/summer. As cold as it has been lately, I'm not going to chance it right now, and I'll just put him in the Marineland System 6.

If I could find a heater that was small enough for 1gal I may be interested, but I might just go with a planted jar for now... I look at what options are out there for sure though...

it looks like a good test ;) Its good that you moved him, try it when its warmer as stated already :) My friend did a similar thing a while ago. He bought a betta and a fish bowl, approx 1 gallon. I think the test went well but he moved the bettas into a proper tank 2 years later. He said he did 50% water changes daily when it was in the bowl.
