Keyholes, sorry for the confusion. Everything after the 1st sentence refers to them.

Scratch that 37 and make it a 60. Any new recommendation? Looking for something colorful and hardy. Hopefully peaceful in group-living as well.

That opens up a whole new ballpark of options now.
Before we answer, lets get a new set of parameters....
1) non dwarfs and not so common?
2) community set-up that will allow for species variation of cichlids that can co-exist peacefully?
3) compatibility of of cichlids to others species? cories, plecos, schooling/dither/shoaling fish....etc.
4) Finish scape such as planted, rocky
5) S. American, african preference for cichlids. -- more options for SA with size, color, compatibility and aggression level.( my opinion only)

I have a couple ideas that could work but it would take some effort to find the species..

Nobody recommended acaras yet? I've had a few and they are awesome fish. Behavior wise they are as interesting as any larger SA cichlid. They can be aggressive and surprisingly shy at times.
