I'm not very fond of SA cichlids, so I probably wouldn't choose either. 
. However, if I were in your situation, I'd be tempted to go with the JD because it would add interest to the tank (i.e. be something different to look at). However, I might consider it riskier than another oscar and go with a pretty tiger oscar or an albino tiger with nice markings... See, I'm not very decisive about this myself. I guess it would depend on what looked the best in the petstore when I was ready to get my fish. But I'd probably do a JD.
