i'd definately go with the discus. I don't really think they are as needy as most proclaim

don't get me wrong, you would definately need to keep up with the WCs, but you could defiantely get away(without any harm done of course) with 2x a week, maybe even 1 here and there.

i'm currently holding a juvi white butterfly right now for a friend thats in between a move (im supposed to be giving it back within the next couple days but i REALLY don't want to lol) and i haven't changed my WC schedule.. once a week with a gravel vac, or 2x a week if i have time. and he's doing absolutely great.

You live in one of the best cities for Discus in the country. There are many breeders there you just gotta look. I recommend you go to J&J Discus in Chicago. Tell Jim that Johnathan from Milwaukee sent you and it would help if you are a Bears fan.........
