Another option is to use higher forms of algae, mostly Macro-Algae, they will starve the green, hair, and brown algae, and are much easier to keep under control.
I bought some sp of caulerpa the other day. The LFS store didn't know the exact name of it but they said it didn't spread. It looks like a big brillo pad. I think maybe spaghetti caulerpa(?) Oh, I found a couple small starfish that look like brittle stars, black and white striations. Anyone know if these are reef safe? They seem to only hang out in the caulerpa. I don't want them to come out at night and ravage my corals.
Thats good to hear. I bought a few more janitors the other day and they seem to be making a difference. The snails are feasting!!
How much water movement is needed to prevent algae from establishing? I have a Rio 400, a 330 penguin, and a new remora skimmer (see new thread). Currently the Rio is pointed right at the glass (front of the tank). My tank is only a 30g so its pretty strong if I point it length-wise. The clowns and polyps look like they are getting blown around too much and the gramma doesn't even get into its path.
