i'd bet if it was labeled "misc. african" its some mbuna hyrid. they're everywhere these days.

I agree with the others on returning the fish though. Water parameter differences aside, mbuna are bad asses. At work anytime we get a large/unsellable fish returned we ususally put it in the display tank (that is of course if i dont take it home :D ) . In said tank there is a 3in one eye'd male kenyi (mbuna) and a 8-9 inch oscar. the kenyi goes toe to toe with the oscar everytime. He has on several occasions caused minor lip damage to the oscar. These fish are much better suited for specialty african tanks, and even at that i dont like psuedotrophis in with the pretty haps and peacocks, no use in risking a beautiful $50 fish with a cheap zebra or the like.
