I've had an AquaC Remora HOB skimmer for 2-3 months now and everyday I used to dump about an 1 1/2 inches of water out of the collection chamber on top but for the last week now it hasn't picked up anything in the top chamber at all. I'm still feeding like I normally do and the pump and everything are clean and flowing like normal. I bought it used and it didn't come with any directions so I don't know if I should clean it out, or maybe my water is just getting really clean these days? I should also add that about a week ago I added a HOB poly reactor with some phosar media, so I was thinking maybe that thing might just be absorbing alot of the "crap" in the water, but the incoming return water hits the skimmer pump first, then the reactor pump so I'm not sure. Thanks for any input.

You definitely need to clean the glass tube going into the box. Mines gets nasty and it definitely inhibits its action.

There is also a little white screw on the top of the water intake as it enters the skimmer box. You can take the out - be careful that you don't drop it in versus taking it out and run a small wire brush through there to clean it out. It can get plugged.

Or better yet, check this out http://www.proteinskimmer.com/User's Manuals/Remora Pro.pdf

Thank you for the link, don't know why I never thought to search for that..I had been cleaning it out as they described, just not as often as they say to. I just cleaned it all out and I'll try to do it every other day or so now. Thanks again!
