I saw some very small maybe 1" baby soft shelled fully aquatic turtles. I plan on buying one but I have no idea what they need. Do they need a heater? Tank size? Etc.. Thanks ! =]

Whether or not they need a heater depends on the temp of the room the tank is in. Low 70s for a water temp is fine, up to the low 80s. They don't stay 1" very long and absolutely positively will not "grow to the size of the tank'! You'll need at least a 75 gal tank to keep it long term. Oh and adult Softshells are the perfect gift for a kid who has 6 fingers on each hand, seeing as he has a few spares. The beak is anything but soft and they're not shy about using it!

They are very cute when little but are definitely not a species that's recommended for beginners. You have a 50/50 shot of ending up with a female and some species the females can grow almost 2 feet long. If that's the case you're going to need the minimum of a 200 gallon aquarium.

Here's a link with a bunch of excellent care sheets. I recommend that you read up a LOT before making a purchase.

Well my girlfriend knowing I wanted one went ahead and bought me one for christmas -.-' so now Im stuck with one. If it gets that big - another LFS has a 550g tank with some soft shelled turtles so I can bring him there but how long will it take for him to grow more than a foot?
