How do you blanch vegetables such as zuchinni to supplement pleco's diets? Is it a "special" way of boiling it? I will be using it for my 2 rubber-lipped pleco's and any other fish that care to take a bite . Thanks for the help!
I don't blanch my zuchini, I peel it and rinse it off and then rubber band it to a rock. The fish seem to like the crunchiness of it. My loaches click at it for hours until it is completely gone.
I freeze zucchini, but that's just for storage. The only reason many people use blanched veggies is that they sink better after blanching. If you can attach the veggie to a weight, you'll be fine, and the fish will love it.
