Ok so as the title says, I can't get this green algae off of my glass.

I just did a 75% WC, and tried to get the algae off by scraping it in all kinds of ways, first with a regular piece of cloth then I just used my nails to scratch it off but nothing.

I've never had algae this tough before, any tips on how to get it off?

Perhaps try using a razor blade?

When I got my 1st 'rescue tank' it was pretty covered in algae too, but a razor blade took care of the algae and the salt buildup. Just be careful not to scratch the glass! =)

Good luck!!!

I second the Credit-Card option.
Just use any of those plastic 'free-cards' you get in your junk-mail.
Hold it at a 30 - 40' angle and scrape up and down the tank (when filled with water I noticed it to be much easier than empty...)
Scratch-chance minimal and a 75G tank can be cleaned in less than 30 minutes..

planted tank? if so fix your imbalance or cut back on light so it stops growing.

This is what I use and the blades can be removed to dry and sharpen when needed. I get them from a Dollar Store around here and cant beat the price :).

There is a stargate in my aquarium.
Perhaps try using a razor blade?
:iagree:
For really tough green-spot algae, I've used a safety razor. Just go lightly and you shouldn't scratch the glass.

Honestly...a soft cloth like a bar wipe and elbow grease works for me...
