How does this flourite work as opposed to that seachem flourite? I have no experience with either and it seems like something you would use as a base layer and cover with gravel/sand?
It is basically the same thing..... "fracted, stable porous clay" As per your original request, it is basically Seachem Flourite, but very inexpensive in comparison. It is NOT meant to be covered with another material.....

That is right. If you are using low tech plants like annubias and crypts, then you can grow then in gravel with no extra ferts and really no fancy lighting. It all depends on which sort of plants you want to grow.
