I'll warn you now, bolivians aren't going to come greet you every time you walk up to the tank... Odd's are they won't do anything until you open the top up.

If you wan't a "friendly" fish I'd say a single con is best.

With a 55 being only 12 inches wide and severum getting up to 12 inches, I'd do nothing less than a 75. But that's JMO.

oh ok would a 40 work? could tiger barbs go with the convict or is that over stocked?
Doubt it... A standard 40 is 48"X12"X16" which is a similar problem to the 55. A breeder is 36"X18"X16" which is better IMO but that is a very large fish in a small water volume.

As for the tigers, I'd say no. In a 20 that is well overstocked. Even in a 40, tigers are nippers. If you go with the 40, a single con and a group of Black Ruby Barbs would be a better option but in a 20, it's just too much.

I am not sure if you have your heart set on a cichlid or not, but you could put a figure 8 puffer in a 30 long. They are full of personality and will great you. My green spotted puffer makes acroaking sound when hes hungry. Figure 8 are also low end brackish, you could used african rift lake salt or just get a small box of marine salt and add about 1/8 of cup per gallon or less.
