Well... Sorry for the false alarm.. THERE ARE EGGS.. But I just found out they can't be fertilized.. They are not orangish.. They are 2 to 3 mm like everything I read said they should be. There is like over 200 of them. But they are grey/whitish. Guess Squiggy just ain't up to the task.. After reading quite a lot this evening, ordering Rotifiers, running and buying a hatch tank, filtration, heater, lights etc etc etc I find they are unfertilized. Man my heart is broken..

My only solice is that my female is laying eggs. Maybe I need to give Squiggy viagra or something.

But I haven't!!! Well not really.. Not when the lights are out.. But dog gone it I just went and spent like 500 bucks tonight. Its not like I thought they would mate as I've always only called them a bonded pair not mated pair.. Where ever there is one you'll find the other not more than an inch or two away.. They sleep together in the same rock space, Lenny has even been doing the whole cleaning thing at the base of the clay pot. But since I NEVER suspected them actually mating I never really read up on the whole thing. I HOPED it would happen but the egg thing really caught me off guard.

The funny part is that both of them are still near the clay pot and they won't really leave. Other than when I feed the tank and they are chasing a bit of food or something.

At least I didn't buy the live rotifiers so they'll keep for a while. :)

Gotta LOVE fish.. They'll throw you for a loop every time.

Oh bless. I was so hoping you were going to be a "daddy":(
Me too... But like I said Lenny is laying eggs (maybe I should change that name).. So there is hope.. Maybe? I don't know I just don't have enough experience with saltwater fish reproduction. But I'm trying to read everything I can..

The first couple of batches usually arnt good, they need to get their timing right. It's better for you to start the phyto for the rotifers now before they lay another set. They usually lay one set a month. Also the eggs can't touch air so when you move them after they turn silver make sure they dont touch air. Also make sure the grow out tank is cycled by placing your sponge filter in your current tank and add tank water to the grow out tank. the book clownfishes is really helpful!
