This is 1) definitely a weird/stupid question, and 2) most likely something no one has ever investigated, but I was thinking about it: does anyone have any idea how much cleaning "power" cories actually have when foraging along the bottom of a tank? They obviously cover a lot of area, bristles in the gravel all day-- but how deep can they actually clean? Are they just brushing food on the top of the gravel and eating it when it's disturbed, or do they get a decent amount of suction and get some of the deeper material, below the surface of the gravel?

See what I mean? Stupid question, but curious nonetheless!

It depends on your substrate. If you use sand it is likley that they eat down to a larger depth, whereas in gravel they are more likley to skim the top, only venturing further if very hungry. To be honest you should never really have food that is down at the bottom long enough for it to work its way down further than the top layer.
