I dont think you need an airstone if you have a protein skimmer. the skimmer creates tons of bubbles which airate your tank and cause great oxygen exchange. in fact, I dont think you need an airstone in marine at all. innnnn fact, I don't use them in any of my tanks and never have. always thought they looked cheesy and unnature.
