Update
ok...had two fish since (both Damsels). One fish survived and is doing just fine...the other one, well it went white and passed away (given that it was a 3-spotted damsel and they're black, quite a shock). Just getting loads of brown algae all over the place now (including the deep sea bed). Hitchiker critters have come and gone (worms being a constant). Had jellyfish for about a week too. Pretty cool really. Just have to wait for the ammonia to subside and leave the tank until at least the new year before anything else happens...
