Hello, whenever I goto the beach I always check the area for washed up shells and coral. I have a small bucket full right now soaking. I was wondering if they were okay to put into my 10gal FW tank. Its still in the cyclying period.

What kind of fish do you plan on keeping in the 10 gallon? Coral and shells are calcium carbonate and will slowly dissolve in a tank, increasing pH. That can be desirable or undesirable depending on the fish you want.

No. Tiger barbs don't particularly go for hard alkaline water.

Mind you, they don't go for ten gallon tanks either. IMO they get too big for a tank that small.
