the problem is, that if the rope slips in your hand as you're lowering the canopy, you risk shattering the tank.

and the chances of having wet hands after a water change is fairly high.


so in short. it's not something I would try or recommend. too big of a risk.

Valid point, I have a limited number of options though. It is maybe 3" off the wall so I really couldn't to a piano hinge on the back. Possibly on the side, but that would limit my access to either side. Maybe not though if I can get it to raise high enough.

The fixture is only 10lbs, and then factor in maybe 10 more in wood.

Kind of heavy for what i was thinking. Im sure youll think of some type of pulley system and rig it up to your needs

I would love to do like a boat lift style, four cables going into the sealing and a up and down switch. That's a little pricey for me though.
