5 hrs is very short, even 6 hours is quite short although that is probably the minimum I'd go. What are your doses?
Those doses are very different from the recommended doses found in the EI thread here:
I have adjusted mt light timer to 8hrs (4p-12mn)
I dry dose the FF
1/8 tsp KNO3 3x a week
1/4 tsp KH2PO4 3x a week
1/4 tsp K2SO4 3x a week
1/4 tsp Plantex 3x a week
Saturday 70% WC
+ extra plantex on sunday
5ml excel everyday
i altered it, i already have high nitrates so lowered the dosage of KN03Those doses are very different from the recommended doses found in the EI thread here:
http://www.barrreport.com/showthread.php/2819-EI-light-for-those-less-techy-folks
60 – 80 Gallon Aquariums
+/- 3/4 tsp KN03 3x a week
+/- 3/16 tsp KH2P04 3x a week
+/- 1 tsp once a week (water change only)
+/- ¼ tsp (15ml) Trace 3x a week
50% weekly water change
That's very surprising given 70% water changes. Is there nitrate in your tap water? You cut the nitrate by 80% from the recommended dose, which gives you only about 4ppm of nitrate from dosing.i altered it, i already have high nitrates so lowered the dosage of KN03

40ppm is the result last time when i still have a ton of fish Lol... maybe the nitrates drop after i removed some of the fish,, after that i haven't tested my water, increasing the KNo3 made my wisteria green, planning on installing a pressurized C02, i am still doing some research on parts, buying the parts separately...Odd. 40 ppm is plenty of nitrate yet you increased the dose and the plants got better. Keep an eye on your CO2 levels now that you removed most of the fish from your tank. Less fish = less CO2.
