ummm...not to start a big debate, but when i was looking at this before there was a LOT of debate on the 2 heater thing.

seemed like people were landing on the safest thing is that you should have two of the same, each one capable of supporting the tank solo. no?

I've never advocated undersizing heaters, even with multiples. If one heater quits, the other can be quickly burnt out by trying to keep temperature in a larger volume of water than that for which it was designed. While having multiple heaters in the tank gives you some safety factor, IMO each should be capable of handling the entire tank volume alone.
