MH is fine on a 10 gallon and a 10 with softies. Many people on RC and nano reef run them without a problem. Also if the MH bulb is bought in the 14-20K spectrum there is no need for acintic suppliments. I run a 10 gallon with a 14K DE HQI and have softies and LPS with no problem (I have also kept SPS in this tank but traded it in for a different look in the tank). So Please do not make statements you can not support as many have done these things you claim will not work with great sucess, it is acctually quite common.
