looks great, jen. hoping to see some updates soon.

however, flattery isn't why i'm visiting your thread. we previously spoke of your pre-tank filtration and i wanted to point you in the direction of some information you don't normally see in this thread... http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/fertilizers-water-parameters/155380-dose-less-not-more.html

specifically these posts here... http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/1611063-post110.html ... and here... http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/1611626-post112.html

i think the insight might be helpful and possibly confirm some things you've seen for yourself already.

Flattery is plenty enough of a reason to visit! :) Thank you for the link, still checking it out but so far very insightful!
Beautiful tank!!
Thanks!

Update tomorrow but really nothing to show. I mean I am excited about the 1 leaf a week coming in on my crypts but it's really not much to look at. :D

"Hello. My name is Jen and I am a slacker." I get overwhelmed easily it seems. :) SO, I got caught up with other projects (renovating the entire second floor down to the studs mostly!) and I let the floating plants overtake the tank not once, not twice but 3 times now! Although pretty and low maintenance they straved out a lot of the crypts below. :(

What's happened....
~Bought a new victor regulator and Fabco needle valve (Haven't worried about my CO2 since!)
~Discovered one of my doser pumps wasn't working, still haven't gotten to fix it. Needless to say the tank has been running on fumes.
~Thrown out two 5g buckets worth of plants because I didn't have time to sell them!
~Fully combined my two tanks. I am now down to just TWO tanks, until the reno is done anyways! :D

A poor dark picture of the now organized take over, waiting to be bought!

And just a fun feeding time pic.

Whoops! There went another year and more plant killing for me! :shakehead: Nothing would cooperate with me. I'd get the auto dosers working and the co2 tank would mysteriously be empty (without a tank dump), then I'd get the co2 good again and the dosers break and then the light bulb blows, grr. And my camera broke! I got frustrated and ignored it, I admit it. Well I cleared my head, got motivated by Pitbull's summer pond and tubs and got my stuff together to try this yet again. You know, I've NEVER had a successful planted tank. When does determination because stupidity? :)

A few plants have barely hung in there with me so I have some sort of base to start with.

The Done List
~Bought some Cyrpt Walkeri and Hygro Kompackt. I don't think the kompackt will survive but I got a good deal on it.
~Filled the CO2 tank
~Made some liquid ferts, going to try PPS-Pro
~Took every plant I had set aside to deal with later that was either in floating baskets or planted in tupperware and actually planted them!
~Bought a new bubble counter as I think my old one leaked, reworked the co2 setup
~I bought new fish which I LOVE!

It got late so I didn't get everything done but I will have pictures tomorrow from the crappy, rigged camera though.

BTW Thanks Jay for the complement on the hood, better late than never right!? lol

Trying to add pictures but my computer is freaking out, please hold!

Wow, sorry I am having major trouble trying to get my pictures up with this new system. I guess I will go the old fashion way and just attach them for now. I really need a new camera so I apologize for what you are about to see, in regards to the quality of photos and the sad state of my tank.

1st - FTS before I jumped in
2nd - FTS after
3rd - Left side
4th - Right side
5th - 5 yr old Needle leaf Java fern! My ONLY java fern to ever survive longer a month or so!
6th - Kuhli Loches
7th - Funny blurry photo of my rummynoses, the one on the right was just turning around. They actually are not as red nosed as usual, I don't think they liked all the digging around I did.
8th - The best shot I could get of my Roselines, that one is about 3"
9th - Group shot, every species is present, can you find them all?
10th - Under the tank shot
11th - Random! But because of the bowfront the rummynose looks way bigger than the roseline! lol

So let's see what happens!
