i have 12 cardinals. Not about to upgrade to a larger tank though. just not possible. I like the idea of just getting one ram. For some reason i just thought they prefer to be in pairs, but if one could work that would be fine with me. Any Apistos that would do ok in a 10?

Also, if I do end up getting one ram, does the sex matter? Should I get a male or female?

I agree 12 cards is pretty well stocked. If you do get a ram I would try for a female although a male may work out OK.

Does this look overstocked to you?

I like the way you scaped the tank. A ram and 12 cards is pretty aggressive stocking but with regular water changes I could see it working out. Rams and Cardinals need very good water conditions.

cool, thanks for the advice. I think I will try and get a female Ram and let her rule the roost.

My ram is not aggressive, but is very active... I can't imagine him being happy in a 10g. Just my 2 cents.
