A black out will not kill your plants. When I did it, it took 3-4 days. I also covered my glass with paper so no light could get in.

Isn't that near 10 watts per gallon.. I heard of max 3.. but your plant results are great..

Thanks for the idea. I did this and green water is all gone. I did one final water change today and water is perfectly clear. Surprise to see new leaves emerging from sand as a couple bigger leaves have died off, but overall everything seems to be back to normal. I turned the lights on and yes it is a little overkill but have the light very high above tank and can't beat the plant growth.

Maybe one more water change will do I am noticing a little cloudiness after looking at pics but this may be from reflection as well
