My wife has a 55 GL tank and the water has turned green. We have washed the filters. The filtration system is new (couple of months old). How do we fix this problem. Thanks

Do a search on the entire Freshwater Forum on "green water". It's a common problem and there are a zillion posts on it.

What kind/model of filtration have you added? Are you still running the old filter? How did you "wash" the filters?

If by swapping filters you may have removed a good deal of your nitrifying bacteria, the algae may be growing in response to heightened levels of nitrogen sources.

When cleaning filters pads, you want to use declorinated water. Untreated tap water can kill the beneficial bacteria in the filter cartridges.
