Hmm I didn't even think of it. That tree was about 4 miles into a slot canyon and we only had another 5 miles to hike before we completed the loop. Water and one of the kids that went with us was more than enough to carry. The photo just before the tree is part of the slot canyon. Besides that was not land I could have legally collected from anyway.

One more reason I will never make it to Utah except in the summer.....

Hoarfrost is really something. Yes you had precipitation but not as rain. It can form only if there is moisture present in the air. Amazing how artistic it is in its formation! Not sure but I think it forms when dew settles on objects and then freezes. It doesn't form the same way as regular frost does, but I don't know how they differ in actions, just results.
