Well for one there is no general, seen by all, chat room with this new chat. Users can make a room, but then it is only visible to the people that are invited to it, and not to the general group of forum members. So who knows how many private rooms there have been made in this new chat. But I can say there are no public ones, and that is the reason it doesn't really work. I can sit in my created room and invite people that I see online, but that is tedious and more attention than I can pay to this site just to have some chatting going on.

that's odd because it asks when you create it if you want it public or private. WHy did we loose the other chat anyways?
yes there is. someone just has to make it as as long as its made people can join if its public.
Ok so I had made a public room called "Shoot the breeze", and I know others have made rooms that I don't see. If it is just build a room and they will come why is it that the only person that has come and joined my created room is one I've invited? Just in the off chance I didn't make that first one a public room I just created another one that is public. I know I'm not the only one that have created public rooms, so then why can I not see those rooms? It is as if they don't exist, or all those people are just pulling my leg when they say they are in chat.

We tried it earlier and it does work. However, I'm not sure the specifics, but they eventually disappear with no activity. And seeing that there are usually few members here (and many only pop in for a few minutes at a time)it's likely they won't go looking there. We had a nice room with 8 people going for a little while. Tomorrow will be bigger 
The one's I've created have stayed at least in my view, but I've never seen a room created by anyone else.
I do see how this could be made to work. But it would not work without a person making it happen because there is no residual open chat that everyone can see to join. The mode of operation for this would be to have someone willing to host the chat room for the day, and have a thread to announce the times and who is hosting, and replies to that thread could be used to indicate interest in joining the chat since it seems invitations are necessary.
