Update of 9-28-2014: Pic
The tank certainly has less biomass now than before - I gave away the other 2 Swords and took out some other plants, so now rather than the jungle look, it's a less thick look.
I am worried about the Seachem Flourish Comprehensive that I have put in even though the substrate is now soil. Also I put in some Seachem tabs for the Sword and the Cryptocornes. That seemed to help somewhat. The new stems in the back left are also growing very fast and I had to prune them back. I could've pruned them more. I pulled off as much moss as I could from the wood.
Unfortunately, this all means that the tank is in transition, and I am still fairly unknowledgeable about planted tanks. Oh, btw, I took the black backing off of the back of the tank a couple of weeks ago and there is a small amount of algae coverng most of the glass, but not worse. I should also say that I got brown-tinted water from working with the plants, and some of this leaching of substrate is still remaining.
Unless I hear something different from a dirter, I plan to keep on dosing the Comprehensive once a week (this is half of the max dose).
I posted a link to a Seachem chart of the contents of Comprehensive and their corresponding deficiency symptoms in the Planted Tank forum, thought it could be helpful.
