I am considering a jawfish for my tank. They quite pretty and nice and active, but when reading about them it cautions against their jumping habit and suggests a tight fitting lid. My tank is currently topped with some eggcrate cut to fit snuggly. Will this do an adequate job of keeping any "jumpers" in place? Can't imagine a fish jumpin out of the tank with such precision to fit through a .5" hole.

If it is weighted it should be OK. Depending on the spacing size of your eggcrate you may want to consider a screen as well.

a friend of mine had a jawfish make that precision leap a couple months ago.
