I've also kept sids and zebras together and separately. Sids are fun and bright and active and zebras are about the most peaceful.
The darios get big but it takes a very long time. They are pretty peaceful as are rostrata and its close look alike that I forget the name. The Kubotai are also good. Nigrolineata are a bit hyper and can get nippy.
Yo yos are fun but also can get to 6 inches and are at the beginning of the more aggressive end of the scale, they can be fin nippers....depends on the other fish with them. Then you get into the skunk and blue-finned....more nippy but good with things like larger cichlids.
