If this fills in, its gonna be great. I only have a 26 watt MH over it, probably gotta figure out better lighting to get optimum results. Iv always wanted to do this for the 55.

It'll be huge once it gets going! I've never used MH but java fern doesn't need a lot of light. Good luck!

its going to be tricky with the light. The top will get blasted, and the bottom not so much. I guess I have to see how that goes.

pick up a cheap destop "twisty" lamp, and put it so that it faces the side of the tank (and mid-bottom plants) Get a daylight bulb, and it should do some good...

The housing for the bulb I have now I can twist and turn it, it has a screw in MH "flood light". Saying put that on the side of the tank, or just change the bulb all together to a daylight?

I went from CF to T5 on a java fern and it burned all the leaves off. It is slowly recovering tho.
