I got a betta from petsmart that looked just like that when I bought him. He ended up mostly blue and his fins have stayed that reddish colour.

Sounds promising! I love blue bettas. I'm guessing along with being stressed Nigel is also fairly young. Do you have a picture of your betta?

Don't mind the picture quality, my betta, the tank lighting and my camera were making a good picture difficult

I weighted the driftwood and it stays down enough. It'll waterlog eventually.
He is shy and hides still.
His bottom fin touches his tail when he's flared, I've only seen him half though. I hope his fins touch all the way around.
