*estimating* is way different then knowing. but i have never seen any BN get past 6 inches, although it may happen. but i have never seen it in my 12 years of fish keeping.

I think a foot is exaggerating it. I say around 5"-7"

Still, a foot long? I'm thinking it may be a non BN with a similar color pattern.

Not the starlight. I didn't buy him, went to that lfs and he looked really beat up I didnt think he'd make the night.

OK! I just measured him! With a ruler, he is slightly under 8". TL. My female bn also is 4". I don't have any pics of it being measured but I am making it my lifes goal to provide irrefutable evidence of his massive size! I assure you he is 8", no doubt about it.

It is most likely not a common one (brown) but the bigger sized ancistrus. I think there's around 60 identified species so far so yours can be one of the 60 or so ancistrus.
