My clown loaches stripes are fading

The black stripes that clown loaches have looks more like gray-ish on mine, could It be because of the ligthing or color of gravel, I think it could be stress because theres only 2 of them. If it is stress will it help if I get one more and then some tiger barbs because I heard they like to school with tiger barbs

They "gray out" when fighting too. What color is your substrate?

Yup, mine after 4 years started to do this.. They are 4.5 now and still that colour

I have one that is a "sole survivor" and the colors and stripes are great so I don't think being in a small group is the problem.

Mine loves schooling with my corys. Hasn't seemed to bother it but I am getting another tank set up for him to have some freinds of his own kind.
