Magic?? Haha, I'm not even sure that this will work yet. Plus, I obviously need some smaller plants! I've never done an unfiltered tank before so this is totally unfamiliar territory for me. I really hope the plants will take care of a lot of the nutrient export in addition to the 2-3x weekly water changes that I have planned.

Nice look - it will get crowded when those plants grow.
I'd go ahead and get a v. small whisper or other internal filter.
Also - if you have not done so yet, Coralife makes a nice little 10W PC-screw in bulb, 6700K. Plants love them. It *should* fit (look at/click my sig - I use one in my 5g minibow).
