Newbie question about starting the cycle

I have never kept a saltwater tank but I current have 4 freshwater tanks running.

I read the stickys on cycling a salt water tank but I have a question...

Can I use media from my freshwater tanks to get the cycle started in a saltwater setup?

I am really considering trying a saltwater tank but I want to have my homework done first - so I don't make the same mistakes I made with the freshwater tanks

No FW media will not start a SW tank, if you are going to put LR in your tank that will be enough to cycle your tank.

FW and SW have different types of bacteria...so no, that doesnt work..or so i've been told...
