Not only do I agree with your tank being to small but consider this. I friend of mine at work knows this person who put an oscar in a 20g it did grow pretty well ( somthing like 10") but they had it on the coffee table and this thing would smash the glass and actually shift the tank to the point that it was partially hanging off the table. Another reason why you don't want to put big fish in small tanks is that even if they do grow they have the power to break glass, shift the tank etc... I have heard many storys of large fish put in small tanks breaking tanks and things like that so don't put an oscar in there ... for your own sake. Having no oscar is alot better than having a dead oscar and no tank!
