If I was you I would just set the tank up with the very basics-get it running meaning set the water circulation(what ever its going to be sump/fuge, overflow, HOB, etc. etc.) up. You dont have to use salt water for this. After thats setup, drain the tank if you didn't use saltwater. Make saltwater (or buy it), add to the tank. Add an argonite based sand to the tank(not the lowes playsand), add dry rock (preferably from Bulk reef supply or Marco Rocks). Find an LFS that can sell you a few pieces of live rock and add that to tank.
Then let it sit like that and in this time, you can do your research properly while your tank is cycling. You wont even have to worry about water changes in this time. No need to be overwhelmed or stressed at this point since you have no livestock. Things get way more stressful for people who dont research properly and add livestock like fish or god forbid corals to their tanks only to have them die within a week if not sooner.
Just take your time and have fun with it. Once you know what your doing, its awesome to see your creation slowly come to life.
