Gender: Female I can tell truly mature people filmed those. I think it’s sad when the highlight of someone’s day is watching a goldfish being torn apart, or have the urge to film and post it online.

Gender: Male You didn't film it, but you did post it here. In some ways it is interesting to watch how after a while the 3 piranhas seem to almost work together to corner the goldfish, but I doubt the people who did film it were interested in studying hunting patterns. If you don't want to be criticized for what you post, then don't post it.

Gender: Female The problem with posting that video here is that the majority of people here do not have predatory fish and prefer not to watch something suffer to death. There are better sites to post stuff like that.

Gender: Male I'm not sure if I understand the moral outrage here correctly.
Is it because someone filmed this?
Is it because people have predatory fish?
...
So far what I've seen, doesn't look any worse than what you
can see on the discovery channel at any time of the day.
And when I saw the headline piranha vs. goldfish, I kinda knew
what I was clicking on...
So what's the aggrevation about?

I had a piranah that size and i'd feed it the small sized goldfish. He'd simple inhale them ...
It reminds me when I first got the guy and tried feeding him a goldfish that was about the same size as him. He'd nip all the fins off before moving in for the kill.

Even God himself doesn't know what you just said.
Why's it so "sick" to film that? In the ocean, big fish with sharp teeth eat little fish that are tasty, all the time. And I can tell you firsthand, sometimes they even bite people. Deal with it.
Comparing whoever filmed that to Dahmer is really, really ignorant. Dahmer murdered people and then stored their bodies in acid vats in his apartment, and he stored severed heads in his refrigerator. Oh, and he was a cannibal. Sounds just like the kind of guy who would film piranhas eating a goldfish to me. Maybe every single cameraman for Animal Planet and The Discovery Channel all want to eat you as well. Gimme a break, shawn.

Gender: Male I have to agree with those that have said it.
this hunting, killing, consuming of a fish by predatory fish is natural.
some may not like that this was shown on a video.. and posted here but none the less this is simply the nature of predator animals.
btw, many of the fish we keep in aquaria are by nature, some level of predator.
those of us who keep cichlids should be well aware that many of the fish we keep ambush their prey. hence warnings of which species to keep with other species (eg: not recommended to keep neons(or oto's for that matter) with angels.

Gender: Female What bothers me about the video is not the fact that the pirahna are eating a goldfish, but that the goldfish is obviously too big for them to eat and is being picked apart one tiny bite at a time. The person who fed them this goldfish wasnt doing it to feed them, they were doing it for the thrill of watching something die a horrible painful death. If they were simply feeding the pirahna they wouldve picked much smaller goldies.

Posts: 341 I think the problem is adding a goldfish thats a little too big for the guys ...

Gender: Female I can tell truly mature people filmed those. I think it’s sad when the highlight of someone’s day is watching a goldfish being torn apart, or have the urge to film and post it online.

There are better sites to post stuff like that.

some may not like that this was shown on a video.. and posted here but none the less this is simply the nature of predator animals.
btw, many of the fish we keep in aquaria are by nature, some level of predator.
those of us who keep cichlids should be well aware that many of the fish we keep ambush their prey. hence warnings of which species to keep with other species (eg: not recommended to keep neons(or oto's for that matter) with angels.

Gender: Male pirahna video
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it is sick to film pirahnas attacking a goldfish.Im not one of those crazy peta people but its concerns me that you would film this.Im well aware that fish eat other fish in the wild.BUT why film it?Obviously you have Dahmer tendencies and need to seek immediate help.Take care,Shawn

Posts: 341 I think the problem is adding a goldfish thats a little too big for the guys ...
