Pleco that eats like a regular fish

I have a ~4 year old pleco that, over the past 6 months, has decided that he's not a pleco anymore, and eats like the other fish. It's funny to watch, so I thought I'd share:

Not that unusual...though IME, it means he is not getting his fair share of food. Have you tried feeding larger food pellets for it ad at night where it can make it to the bottom?

Nice pleco & setup. I think it's normal, some fish are just 'different' How big is your tank? I imagine it's gonna be kind of cramped when all those fish get to adult size.

Actually, now that I've seen Rbishops post, I have to agree, the pleco's stomach does look a bit too flat.

The tank is a 125G. I have become the home for wayward fish, so yes, it is a bit cramped in there.

I am going to get some sinking pellets for him to much on at night and see if he fattens up any.

Thats just freaking cool as hell mine just hides and if someone pisses him off him jumps on them and sucks for a spell

Mine does the same, and bats the Oscar out of the way if he gets too close.

Try some sinking pellets, or even some big chunks of fresh veges to fatten the guy up a bit.

mine used to do that when hes was smaller i recently got rid of him tho he got to big and pooed to much

I fed him some sinking wafers yesterday and he was quite happy with them. After eating them, he still did go up and eat when I fed the other fish later in the evening, but he wasn't as active in pushing the other fish out of the way.

I believe that common plecs become more carnivorous with age. They are still omni-vores, but eat a lot more meat and flakes.
