Does my sump count? It's a 30 gallon tank with bio filtration on the right, and mechanical on the left. I have some extra bio balls in there just floating around that I will use to seed another tank. One mag drive 700 and a mag drive 300 turn over roughly 800+gph for my 125g tank.

Here's the tank with the outlets and HOB overflows.

Sorry if the pictures are too big. I just reformated the computer recently and don't have photoshop installed yet.

That counts as long its homemade/DIY. Your tank looks well filtered and your fish have a good home.

I use a 50 gal barrel as a sump with filtration for 3 x 100+gallon tanks.

beside the filter socks for mechanical, it has a 4ft tall DIY fluidized bed reactor for biofiltration, and alkalinity buffering (the media is aragonite) to the left.

and a DIY counter current fractionator

the bag collects the waste foam.
Also use a DIY downdraft biofractionator on the pond

Good to hear from you Duane. Barrels are a convenient way to build a filter.Your foam fractionators are a good idea. I had an extra(unused) 45g Rubbermaid garbage can laying around, it made an easy filter with duckweed and Hygrophila for nitrate removal.

Nice Dennis. I'm a big fan of the Hamburg filters, thanks for posting

That HMF Corner Filter is intriguing. Is that something that could accommodate an entire community tank or something more relegated to small tanks or shrimp setups?

Anything on this? Are these corner filters useful as sole filtration in a community tank? Would love to get rid of the HOB.
