Yes i made a slight adjustment to the overflow, wich nicely hangs on the back now :) I have a few adjustments to make, as the pump i'm using will outflow the overflow...so i'm going to try to see what I can do to improve it.

I would do something a little more on the rare side if you are going to do a species only tank. Have you ever looked at the Mbipia Mbipi? They are very cool. You can get them at davesfish.com.

I'll look at those. If i decide to go that route, I'll use pool sand or white sand instead of my white/black/grey mix i was going to use.

THanks!

well almost any cichlid that is not a commonly found one, aka Yellow labs, and the more normal varieties are hard to come by up here. I think i've only ever found one Tang variety, and never a Victoria species in any of my local stores. RI is too small...

So good news is my tanks come up to temperature, and the Sump is running perfectly.

Bad news is my light fell off and shattered....showering the basement in tiny shards of glass and dust.

This weekend i'm cleaning the rocks out of the tank, and experimenting with my substate choices. Possibly a background as well!

soo..little update

Hey all!

Little update

The overflow works great...but it wasn't flowing enough....nor pulling from enough of the surface of the tank..

SOOO i did this!

I did 1" to 1.5" adapter, 1.5" adapter to 2".

Now, I'm runing the quiet one 2200 full out (no valve restricting flow) and the over flow keeps up to it.

However...I encountered another problem...the overflow can out flow my bucket filters....sooo i have to redesign those now.

I digress i'm going to re-design, and do something else.

Suggestions? comments? THoughts?

Mike

What I stock it with will depend on what my local store can get for me. Since it is not really cold up here, i do not want to ship anything myself.

but I'll look into that species :)

well...i had planned on picking up some sand and rock for this tank this weekend....

but I got a speeding ticket on my way into work (was traveling as fast as everyone else) being my car is bright yellow, makes it easy to track.

So i have to pay that before I can continue with this tank.

I also think i figured out the filter finally, and hopefully (after the ticket) funding will be enough to allow me to buy a CFS500 for the 130 and move one of the fluval's or mag's down to the 75....I might just use the emperior though..haven't really decided.
